Students’ in both Drawing and Creative Process classes researched 16 historically important buildings in Vancouver’s Chinatown. Each student chose one building, visited the location, researched their site at the Vancouver Archive and constructed artwork in relation to their findings. I based these projects on the premise that research is integral to understanding the places we inhabit. By researching the past, we begin to understand the present and possibilities for the future of our city.

Learning:
1. Investigating/ connecting to local communities
2. researching area history
3. Creative understanding how the past connects to the present and future
